Truck Driving SchoolTruck driving school has specific requirements. These requirements vary between different states. Some programs offer their students tuition reimbursement, which is contingent upon being hired by a trucking company that is willing to reimburse a students loan amount. The reimbursement is paid out monthly and based on the individual continuing to work for the company. There are other truck driving schools that provide placement assistance for its trained students. These kinds of programs are very beneficial to the truck driving school graduate. Students are provided with connections to prominent trucking companies and records are maintained to record employment histories for future employment. Some assistance may also be provided in completing resumes and job applications. Even though there are a variety of differences between one truck driving school and another, there are several similarities that make the schools comparable. Schools are usually quite similar in admission policies in the following ways: A student applying for truck driving school must have completed a high school diploma or a GED. Some exceptions are made if a student is considered to be able to benefit from the training. An individual must be able to legally drive, have a valid Commercial Driving License permit or hold other state-required licensing. An individual must have a social security card or be able to show proof of residency. All applicants must be 18 or older. Applicants must know the English language, according to Department of Transportation standards. Applicants must pass a mandatory drug screening and be able to pass the Department of Transportation physical exam. All students that successfully complete the training in a truck driving school will receive a license based on the number of hours and the kind of training received. This license qualifies the graduate for possible employment as a truck driver. |
