Beauty SchoolsStudents who enroll in beauty schools have many new skills and information to learn before they enter the field of cosmetology. Beauty schools offer a great deal of information about cosmetology, but few offer their students study tips to help them do well in their classes. Listed below are some suggestions to help students enrolled in beauty schools and cosmetology programs get the most of their education. One of the most important things you can do to improve your study habits is to set aside a designated study time and place. Studies show that studying in a quiet place with minimal distractions is usually the best setting for people to learn new information. Developing a schedule will help you plan your study sessions and avoid cramming sessions. It may help to obtain a calendar or planner and write classes, assignment due dates, demonstration times and test dates. If you are given an assignment or project that feels overwhelming to you, break it down into smaller tasks and focus on completing the smaller tasks. The time to think about an exam is when you begin a class. When an instructor gives you a course outline, read it over and pay attention to any objectives or key points. Take note of any special instruction or demonstration an instructor gives. Before you give a demonstration of a technique or skill you have learned, practice! Even if you do not have access to a live model, go through the motions using the equipment you will use in the demonstration. If you are unfamiliar with cosmetology terminology, make yourself a set of flashcards. Quiz yourself periodically do not wait until the night before a big exam to try to learn a list of new words. Remember, taking the time to study hard and do your best will benefit you not only in beauty school but as a professional as well. It will help you develop motivation and discipline keys to a successful career in any field. |
