High School ReunionPlanning a high school reunion is a labor of love that takes a great deal of devotion, time and energy. For a high school reunion to be successful it must be: memorable and meaningful in positive ways to those attending; raise enough funds to cover all the expenses of putting it on and retain extra funds to plan for the next reunion! Sound ambitious? Well it is, but it is not impossible to plan a memorable financially solvent event! Here are some tips to get going. When planning a high school reunion, it will be very helpful to have access to a computer and software. These two things will help you get organized and track everything from your budget to attendees. If you feel that planning everything for your high school reunion yourself is too daunting of a task a quick Internet search will reveal there are several professional reunion planners who can help with your event. If you decide to take on the task yourself make sure you get and stay organized! Checklists and other forms can help you with this. You will also want to establish a realistic budget for the high school reunion and stick to it! If you are working with a committee be sure all members are aware of the budget and any purchases are reviewed by at least three different members. Keeping accurate records will help prevent any major fiscal mishaps. Using the Internet will help locate some of your old classmates, but be prepared to make some telephone calls too. Talking to people offers a more personal touch than an email and will encourage some shyer people to come. Once you have a date, time and location secured spend some time researching ice breakers and large group activities. These things will help people open up and become reacquainted with each other. Lastly, ask attendees for feedback. Dont take it personally, if people did not like all aspects of your high school reunion (No on is perfect). Dont be discouraged! Take in their feedback and use it to plan an even bigger and better event! |
