Medical Schools

Unlike the ordinary four-year varsity courses, medical schools have different stages to enhance the skills and knowledge of a medical student. While it may be with a different focus, medical schools have the same format that should be standard across the board.

The first stage in medical schools is the pre-clinical years. This will last for two years and most of these are classroom instructions. There is virtually little to no actual exposure to the actual work. This stage will focus on advanced subjects in medical disciplines such as anatomy and pathology. Some schools offer a problem based learning program for the students where they have to solve past and actual medical cases from different sources.

Next is the clinical stage which also lasts for two years. In this stage, medical schools will introduce students to clinical rotation. Depending on the focus of a medical school, you can go through intensive rotation in a certain field. Students will have to do their clinical rounds in a hospital related to the medical school for close attention. There will be lots of volunteering in this stage.

Once youre done with the four year medical school, you can choose from primary care or research. There are lots of medical schools to choose from so it depends on what you really want to specialize in. Some schools focus on field work while other medical schools focus on research. In research, students can choose a certain medical field and excel in it.

By this time, students are now doctors that specialize in a certain field. If you wish to continue your tenure in the medical school, you can choose to pursue additional courses in public health, or get a degree in training other potential doctors. Its a very long way in becoming a good doctor. Taking care of life is not easy so medical students are always encouraged to learn in order to excel in their professions.
