Paralegal SchoolBeing a paralegal is a rewarding occupation. A career in paralegal opens up lots of opportunities in the field of law. So, what does it take to be a paralegal? Obviously, to be a paralegal, you have to go through a paralegal school. The standard requirement for most paralegal schools is a high school diploma. Think of a paralegal school as a junior college. Without a high school diploma, you cant get into a paralegal school. Some will prefer you to have some experience in the field of law but its not required. Now, if you want to be a successful paralegal, you may want to get some experience before get certified. The intensive program of a paralegal school will only last for six weeks. For non-experienced students, paralegal school will take at least a year but no more than two years. Six weeks could only be possible if you already have experience in the field of law. Usually, the school conducts tests before you are admitted to gauge your knowledge about the industry and on what stage you are already in. Before you graduate from the paralegal school, you still have to take the Certified Legal Assistant Exam. You have to apply in order to take this exam. In every state, there is the required number of hours of training and experience before you can actually take the exam. Only when you pass the exam can you graduate from the school. Once you have graduated from the school, you can apply for a job as a paralegal. On paper, going through a paralegal school is quite easy. But just like a regular school, in order to excel, you have to work harder for better grades. Thats the only way you can graduate and be successful in your career as a paralegal. |
