Home School Programs
People today are starting to recognize home schooling as a legitimate form of education, and as such, some public schools have introduced independent study programs. In this program, the child is taught at home instead of in a classroom setting, with material supplied by the school district. There are follow-ups and meetings to ensure that the child is staying on the right track. The students go to their public school for 2 days a week, and the rest of the week, they study at home. Students are all welcome to attend the school assemblies and trips. These types of home school programs are a nice option for those experimenting with the idea of home schooling. Home school programs vary from different teaching philosophies. But whichever you choose, youll find someone who home teaches using the same program. You can follow a program consistently if its planned out in advance, and most major home school associations have that. The Calvert home school programs have a curriculum in place, as well as services of education counselors, instructional support, testing, textbook recycling or exchanges. The reassurance that the child is being given an enriched education is one of the main reasons why parents home school. The benefit is that the home teacher can make sure of it. Spending time with the children is so important for lots of parents, but becoming their teacher is a role that requires a lot of hard work and patience. The rewards are numerous as that child starts to read and write, and do math at an earlier age than usual. |
