School FurnitureIf you ever had any question about the importance of your classrooms furniture, just ask your students. Most of them will tell you that it would be great to have more furniture variety in their classroom environments, in order to break up the monotony of their school days. For those of you who shrug off the importance of making your students feel comfortable in your classroom, just ask yourself how you learn better. Isnt it when you feel comfortable and relaxed? For teachers who have a limited budget for school furniture, you can still change up the look of your classroom with a bit of creativity. Instead of having uniform desks and chairs, take a trip around the school to find an eclectic blend of all different types of both. That way, your students can choose which style works best for them, and perhaps even change every day (as long as this works with your overall classroom management style). Another idea is to change up the arrangement of your desks and chairs (including where your own desk is, if possible) every couple of weeks. Changing the way the classroom looks is almost as effective as varying the school furniture. You can also incorporate some of your own home furniture into your classroom as a way to give your room a more relaxed feel. If you have an old easy chair or recliner, bring it up to the school and create a reading corner; students will soon compete with each other to complete their work and spend time in this comfortable area. Arrange some shelves with books and magazines around the chair, add a lamp or two, and you will have designed a space that is perfect for your kids to read and rest. There are many other ideas on how to create a great learning space in your classroom by using unique school furniture. Almost nothing is off limits, as long as you keep the end objective in mind; which is to design an atmosphere that promotes learning. |
