Pharmacy SchoolsThe first requirement to get into good pharmacy schools is education. Graduating in high school is not enough to pass the entry requirements of most pharmacy schools. You should have at least a year of education in the following subjects: biology, general and organic chemistry and physics. Communication, public speaking and humanities are also required before you could be admitted. Sciences will not only help get admitted; knowledge of it will also help you while youre in school. There is also an exam that you should pass before you can be admitted to different pharmacy schools. Called the PCAT (Pharmacy College Admission Test), the exams are usually conducted nationwide. You have to find out when and where to take your PCAT. A good score in SAT may also be required for premier pharmacy schools. If you have done well when you are studying the subjects listed above, you shouldnt worry about anything. All you need to do is to review and youll pass with flying colors. Last but not least is the importance of gaining experience. Although its not required by most schools, its only through experience that youll be able to know what its really like to live as a pharmacist. A part-time job in a pharmacy will help you get the in-depth first hand knowledge which will help you plenty when you are undergoing the courses in pharmacy schools. The main advantage of having experience is the actual knowledge in the practicality of using drugs rather than just learning about them in the classroom. With education, exams, and experience, you will surely have a higher chance of getting accepted by different pharmacy schools. Those factors will also help you when you are already in school as these will be the backbone of the tough subjects youll learn in pharmacy schools. |
