Traffic School

Everyone knows that traffic school is made available for people who break the traffic laws; but traffic violators are not the only people who might benefit from this training. If you are attending traffic school as a participant, you have either been required by the court to attend, or you are making an attempt to improve your driving skills or to lower your insurance premiums.

Mandatory Attendance
There are numerous reasons why an individual could be required to attend a regulated traffic school. For example, if an individual is pulled over by a police officer for violating a traffic ordinance, he or she will usually be ticketed. Many states will allow these ticketed individuals to attend a traffic school in lieu of paying the costly citation; which not only saves the driver from paying hefty fines, but can also vastly improve their awareness of driver safety.

In addition, most states require that drivers have some initial driving training before being tested on those skills and knowledge. Usually, you are also required to pass an actual road test. The traffic school is very helpful in providing a course that will cover the basic road skills needed to drive safely, and you will also generally learn state laws that will help keep you and other drivers safe.

Voluntary Attendance
Having a teenager in your household--especially a male under the age of 21 yearswill usually cause your insurance premiums to be very expensive. If that student takes a driving education class, or a course by a certified traffic school instructor, your insurance premiums may qualify for a rate reduction. Younger drivers will usually not get too excited about attending driving schools, but parents are often very appreciative of the new skills and awareness such schools can provide. In fact, it may be a great idea for all of the drivers in the house to go through the training together as a way to demonstrate commitment to safe driving tactics.
