Law School

Being a lawyer is a noble and rewarding job, but it can be rather difficult for those who are not ready for the tremendous academic challenge. You can make it a lot easier if you start making preparations early. Once you have decided that you are going to law school some day, you should choose a major in high school that allows you to develop problem solving skills. With that in place, you are well on you way to become a lawyer.

Next, you have to go to a 4-year undergraduate college and prepare yourself for law school. Many students take a preparatory course to help them prepare for the bar. Register and study for the Law School Admission Test during your Junior or Senior year in college. You should apply to several ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools. Many law schools require that the LSAT be taken by December for the following fall admission.

To improve your knowledge about law, you should join a study group and spend extra time researching and reading law cases. This will help you understand the law that you want to practice. It is also advisable that you try to get a position in a firm as an intern during your college years. It can be any job as long as you are in the environment where you are working with qualified lawyers.

Lastly, you need to register for the Bar Exam after law school. Summer is usually the optimal time to register. Study diligently and take the exam the summer after you graduate from law school. If you pass the Bar Exam, it is time to look for a job. You will find a job much easier if you had worked as an intern during your student years in college. Once you have found a position that suits you, you will be a full-fledged lawyer.
