Abstract:
Exam in a can is a software series that can be used to generate multiple-choice and free response tests in math and science at the high school level. Titles available in both English and Spanish are Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. English-only titles are Applications in Basic Math, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry. These test-generating programs are available for Apple II, MS-DOS, and Macintosh systems, and are designed to correspond with most math and science textbooks. They allow teachers to make equivalent versions of the sample test to eliminate cheating and facilitate makeup testing. Tests can be generated with problems written in English and Spanish on the same page, and all tests can be printed on normal computer printers. For every test generated, a teacher's answer key and matching student answer sheet can be printed with bubble-format or answer space options. Teachers can supplement the testing software by inputting their own original questions, and instructions for handling all phases of the program accompany each title. All programs are sold with a school site license and each title costs approximately $300.00. No information about test development, norms, scoring ranges, reliability, or validity is included in the promotional materials.
