Abstract:
Aprenda is a Spanish-language achievement test designed to measure reading and math knowledge of students in American schools whose primary language is Spanish. Test levels start with the Preprimary level which is appropriate for the fifth month of Kindergarten and takes approximately four and a half hours to administer. The highest level is Intermediate III which can be used with ninth-graders and which takes approximately five and a half hours to administer. Test items are multiple-choice and provide 3, 4, or 5 response options. Answers are recorded in the test booklets using machine-scoreable bubbles. Reading comprehension and grammar are emphasized in the reading subtests, while computation and practical applications are emphasized in the mathematics sections. Test instructions are available in both English and Spanish, although the test administrator should be a fluent speaker of Spanish. Score reports present test results as raw scores, scaled scores, percentiles, and grade equivalents. Designations of "below average", "average", and "above average" are presented next to each skill so that strong and weak areas are immediately apparent. Group reports are also available. Information about the establishment of norms, the reliability, and the validity of the test are not part of the EAC East collection.
